It’s been quite a week, so I wanted to end things on a positive note. We are calling it our ‘Feel Good Friday’ email.

These past few weeks have been scary to say the least. But in the midst of this global crisis, the world has witnessed true acts of heroism and selflessness. For example, every evening at 7 PM, residents of New York City cheer, chant, yell, flicker lights, play music and make noise in support of the healthcare workers who put their own safety on the line to care for the sick.

There are countless community members doing good deeds right here in the 17th District and I think they deserve recognition. During these trying times, it’s important we share acts of support and kindness to inspire hope and lift spirits. We hope you enjoy the local stories that we have featured below.

Do you know someone in the community that you think we should recognize? Please let us know by emailing

I hope you and your family are staying healthy and safe.

Food Trucks at Bryn Mawr Hospital and Einstein Medical Center

Food Truck

Earlier this week my office teamed up with a number of local organizations and small businesses from the area to provide free meals to the healthcare professionals, first responders and others fighting COVID-19 on Pennsylvania’s front line.

Food Truck

I would like to give a huge thank you to the sponsors and organizers that made this possible, including Aardvark Mobile Tours, Dietz & Watson, Herr’s Snacks, Bimbo Bakeries USA and Ardmore Toyota, who generously offered all food, supplies and use of equipment free of charge. It’s been inspiring to work with so many local companies and small businesses eager to step up and give back to those working so hard to keep us safe.

Thank You

Several local first responders have recently gathered in acts of solidarity to support local healthcare professionals.

On Wednesday, April 7th, members of Lower Merion PD, Radnor PD, Radnor Fire Company, Bryn Mawr Fire Company, and Narberth Ambulance applauded healthcare personnel at Bryn Mawr Hospital as they departed after another day of serving on the front lines.

Another gathering took place just this past Tuesday, April 14th, where Lower Merion PD, Narberth Ambulance, Penn Wynne Fire Company Station 21, Merion Fire Company and members of PA State Police honored Lankenau Hospital workers. The event was streamed live on Facebook for community members to enjoy.

The following Monday, F.O.P. Lodge 28 was formally recognized by SERVPRO for going above and beyond the call of duty.

Finding Shelter Volunteers

Finding Shelter Animal Rescue is an all-volunteer animal rescue organization dedicated to saving the lives of homeless animals. My office has worked with Finding Shelter on more than one occasion, so we are well aware of how amazing they are. However, our admiration for their organization soared to a whole new level when they contacted our office to let us know that their volunteers had been tirelessly working to sew masks for those in need. Volunteers Ben and Liz Campanella and Kate Whiteslaw dedicated all their free time to making this essential gear, and I was more than happy to help get the masks to workers at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and local nursing homes.

The people at Finding Shelter are the best in the business and we are proud to be able to work with them! Thank you for coming together to make a difference in our community!
