KING OF PRUSSIA, April 15, 2010 – Sen. Daylin Leach, D-Delaware/Montgomery, today announced the date of his second annual Librarians of the Year awards celebration, set for Friday, April 16.
The Librarians of the Year event, part of National Library Week will honor two outstanding librarians from the 17th district – one who works in the local school system and one who serves the public library system. "At a time when tough budgetary restrictions are making great demands on librarians, it is especially important to acknowledge their important contribution to our communities," Leach said.
Nomination forms were widely distributed throughout the district, and Leach noted this year’s turnout was outstanding.
“Open a door to a library and you open the door to the world,” Leach said. “I am thankful for the work librarians do. I know they certainly made a big difference in my life growing up in Philadelphia, and I am very happy to honor two outstanding librarians for their efforts."
