HARRISBURG, October 22, 2009 – State Sen. Daylin Leach (D-Delaware/Montgomery) today announced the first episode of LeachCast – a podcast highlighting the issues important to the 17th District and Pennsylvania – is ready for streaming and downloading only on www.senatorleach.com.

The first episode of LeachCast focuses on Senate Bill 1074, which Leach recently introduced. The bill would prohibit the shackling of pregnant prisoners while they are in labor and are giving birth. Joining him is Kathleen Creamer, a staff attorney specializing in family advocacy with Community Legal Services in Philadelphia, who offers some expert insight on the importance of this legislation to stop the cruel and unnecessary practice of restricting pregnant detainees.

Leach said the podcast kicks off the beginning of a series of new changes to his Web site.

“In order to make my web site more interactive and interesting, I have decided to incorporate new formats and new ways to provide information to users,” Leach said. “The upgraded features will allow constituents to follow me on Twitter, listen to podcasts, sign up for e-mail updates, and generally make visiting the site a more enjoyable experience.”

To listen to LeachCast, click the purple podcast button on the left side of the screen. iTunes users can also view the iTunes podcast window for information about downloading the  podcasts.  Listeners also have the option of subscribing to the podcast, and will be alerted every time a new episode of LeachCast is posted to the site.

Previous episodes will also be archived in the audio section of the Web site.
