RADNOR, March 2, 2011 – State Sen. Daylin Leach (D-Delaware/Montgomery) today announced plans to hold the third annual Good Government Seminar on Friday, March 4 at Cabrini College in Radnor Township.
The Good Government Seminar is an educational forum for high school students from the 17th district. The seminar uses a "mock Senate" format to help participants understand the legislative process. During the program, students will have the opportunity to interact with administration and community leaders, legislators and government affairs representatives to learn their roles in creating, introducing and debating pieces of legislation.
Sen. John Blake (D-Scranton), and Eastern Pennsylvania lawmakers including Rep. Tim Briggs, Rep. Greg Vitali, Rep. Mike Vereb, Rep. Matt Bradford and former Rep. Kathy Manderino will serve as panelists during the mock Senate exercise as the group considers bills on a severance tax for Marcellus Shale drilling, campaign finance reform and immigration reform.
Participating schools will include Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy, Norristown Area High School, Upper Merion High School, Lower Merion High School, Radnor High School, Country Day School of the Sacred Heart, Archbishop John Carroll High School and Academy of Notre Dame de Namur.
