| WHAT: |
PennEnvironment will be joined by State Senator Daylin Leach (D-Delaware/Montgomery) and health expert Kate Etherington to call on the Obama administration to set strong clean vehicle standards that could dramatically cut oil use and global warming pollution in Pennsylvania, as well as save Pennsylvanians money at the pump. The Obama administration announced on Friday (October 1st) that it was starting to develop new fuel efficiency and global warming pollution standards for cars and light trucks, and PennEnvironment is urging the administration to finalize a standard that puts American ingenuity to work by requiring the average car and light truck to achieve at least 60 mpg by 2025. Doing so would make hybrid and electric vehicles the norm instead of the exception to the rule. |
