At the beginning of the year we gave our Monthly E-newsletter a fresh new look. Now, we are taking it a step further. I want to provide readers with a better understanding of relevant bills in the legislature. That is why I am bringing you The Blueprint – District 17’s resource to understanding legislation, how it impacts daily lives and what individuals can do on a personal level to help. The Blueprint will arrive in your inbox the second week of every month.
The first issue reviews Senate Bill 803, legislation that I re-introduced on Monday, July 15th, that prohibits the use of polystyrene food containers in Pennsylvania. I have also circulated co-sponsorship memos for bills that would ban the automatic distribution of single-use plastic straws and bags by restaurants, retail stores and other establishments. I plan to re-introduce that legislation later this summer. Last year, right here in southeastern PA, Narberth became the first township or borough in the state to pass a plastic ordinance. It’s time that the entire Commonwealth take this much needed step toward environmental protection through the reduction of harmful waste.
I really want this to be an interactive platform for my constituents. I want to hear from you! What do you want to learn more about? Let us know via email at D17.Constituent@pasenate.com and we can dive into the bill you suggest in an upcoming Blueprint.
